The Application of Resin Beads
With the development of modern industry, resin beads producing becomes easy, which allows its wide use. Nowadays they are normally used in two different ways. One is purifying or softening water, the other one is play a role as accessories.
In terms of water purifying or softening beads, we will need to know the ion exchange process. The beads are typically made porous to provide a large surface area outside and inside them. The trapping of ions occurs along with the accompanying release of other ions, and thus the process is called ion exchange. There are multiple types of ion-exchange resin. An ion-exchange resin usually acts as a medium for ion exchange. It is normally in the form of small microbeads with a radius about 0.25–0.5 mm , usually white or yellowish and containing approximately 45% moisture. And 99% of ion exchange happens inside the resin bead.
And in terms of accessory, resin beads are very popular recently because it is cheap and has varieties of colors and types. Also it won’t get damaged easily, thus it is prevalent among young people. Thanks to its feature, it can be made into different shapes. Take resin handicraft as an example, through pouring the liquid resin into a mould, a vivid craft will appear after the resin becomes solid. Using materials of different colors, you can make different types of handiwork, which means that if you use the correct material, you are able to make the resin handiwork look as if it is made of other materials like crystal, metal, marble or even wood.
Another common way of using resin is to make resin spacer beads or pendant necklace. Thanks to the available material and the advanced technology, many people would like to wear accessories made of it. Resin can be used together with other materials to produce different products like inlaid beads.
