How to Make Clay Beads at Home

If you’re intrigued by this new trend and want to move your polymer clay skills into a new area, then my Rustic Beads and Components Tutorial is a step in that direction.
Colorful polymer clay beads is always trending. But seriously, there's no need to purchase beads pre-made when they're so easy to DIY. If you are ready, lets get started.

Depending on the style you want, you can choose different colors you want on the beads. Then knead them with hands till it becomes pliable and soft. Not only will this help combine the different colors together but it will also help prepare the material and also remove the air in the clay. When you feel the appearing colors is what you want, you can roll the clay between palms and make a small round ball. Then find a toothpick and carefully pierce the little ball without affecting the round shape and then remove it. Make the edge of the two small holes smooth so you will get a perfect surface.

Based on the amount you need of the beads, you can make some more and then bake them together to make them solid. When baking them, remember to put a layer of foil and beafore putting the beads on. The degree shall be around 110-130 °C and the baking takes around 15-30 minutes. Then wait a while for the beads to cool down, then you can use them to make jewelries like cheap beaded earrings.

Like we said before, it is very easy to make your own clay spacer beads. Actually it would be nice if you can invite the kids to join you. It will be a good chance to communicate with each other while  mixing different clay colors together.

Besides round beads, you can make beads of other shapes or even make some certain items when you become more familiar with it. And one more tip is that the clay beads can be a little heavy after baking so it is not suggested to use too many clay on one beads.
